Who and Why?
My name is Kerry Pierce and I’m a non-traditional law student at Widener Commonwealth Law School in my 2L year (extended division). Advocacy is important to me and I believe that all people are entitled to justice regardless of their socioeconomic status. Being low-income should not be a barrier to justice, and so I’ve agreed to become an “Astonishing Advocate” for the Dauphin County Bar Foundation’s “We Care About Children” program. This campaign supports a full-time attorney at MidPenn Legal Services for low-income children and their families. You can read more about that program here. As a mother myself, I feel that all children deserve to be treated fairly by our justice system and our society.
I’ve set up my favorite kinds of events that will help the DCBF accomplish their goal and allow all of us to have a great time for a great cause. If you want to help too, you can attend the events, send a donation to the DCBF and specify it’s for my program, or donate items for me to use as prizes for raffles and silent auctions at these events. Thank you and I hope to see you soon!
Warm regards,
Kerry Charlesworth Pierce
